Combining some of East Africa’s most iconic wildlife experiences on your safari in Africa is worthwhile. So during this 12-days Uganda and Tanzania wildlife safari, you will explore each of these country’s premier wildlife destinations. This safari will start with you visiting Uganda’s Murchison Falls national park, a wildlife destination known for its fascinating boat safaris and the powerful waterfalls- which early explorer Sir Samuel Baker described as the most interesting and important event in the entire course of the Nile river.  Part of your adventure will be in Bwindi Impenetrable forest, which shelters the world’s second population of the Mountain Gorillas apart from that in the Virunga ranges.

For your adventure in Tanzania, you will participate in balloon safaris and wildlife experiences in Serengeti and Ngorongoro. These two are Tanzania’s popular tourist destinations in the northern tourism circuit. So for those seeking to capture the thrill of an African safari, this is the deal, you meet and photograph the Greatest of Apes-the Mountain Gorilla and the African Big Five.

Package Itinerary

Welcome to the Pearl of Africa! On the day you arrive at the airport, you will be warmly received by our guide, meet & greet then transfer to the hotel in Entebbe where you will spend your overnight.

Murchison Falls is Uganda’s largest park at a size of about 3’893sq.km and its enjoys beautiful vistas into Karuma and lake Albert while the Nile River bisects the plains of the park into the northern and southern sections which make the park a beautiful destination to explore. The northern bank is composed of beautiful savannas blend with Borassus palms and here you can see the Big game like Elephants and Buffalos at close quarters. The southern section is ideal for primate tracking like Chimps in Budongo forest while the Nile stretch downstream or upstream offers stunning boat safaris one of the ideal experiences to enjoy in Africa.

So during your visit to Murchison falls national park you will enjoy a detour to Ziwa Rhino sanctuary which is located in Nakasongola on the way to the park, here you will track the Rhinos and its Uganda’s only location for these endangered members of the African Big five. Browse the savannas on a game drive in the park, do a boat safari to the bottom of the falls, you also visit top of the falls known for their trademark rainbow and misty spray.

Explore Uganda’s 321sq.km park which only takes the “brave to penetrate”, known as a sanctuary for the Mountain Gorilla- Great Apes. It is a world class tourism destination protected by the UNESCO world heritage status. On day four you will use a domestic flight from Murchison falls national park to Kihihi airstrip southwest of Uganda and from here you will be transferred in your safari vehicle to the camp overlooking the forest of Bwindi for your stay.

On the next day you will embark on an adventurous trek in to the forest of Bwindi to see the Mountain Gorillas. It starts with briefing at the park reception area, the ranger tells you about the gorilla trekking etiquette and by around 8.30am you enter the misty shrouded forest to trek the gorilla family you’re allocated. The trek is somehow demanding and one needs to be reasonably fit, the forest is sometimes chilly and slippery so be ready for the adventure.

Once you meet the gorilla family you spend an hour in their presence photographing them and the guide takes you through their behavior and afterwards, retreat to the start point where you receive you tracking certificates then back to the camp. Tracking may last a few hours to over 6hrs depending on factors like movement of gorillas, location of the gorilla group or pace of the visitors.

Lake Mburo is a small but stunningly beautiful Uganda safari park with a blend of green savanna vegetation like acacia and wetlands-which cover about 20% of the park surface. At about 370km2, the park is a classic destination for wildlife safaris and here guests have the opportunity to browse the park’s diversity on safari game drives, nature walks and boat safaris along the idyllic Lake Mburo which you will take part in. Its wildlife diversity takes in more than 350bird species and mammals like Zebras, Impalas, Giraffes, Hippos, Leopards, Defassa and many others.

On day 6-you’ll depart Bwindi Gorilla Park to Mburo national park a journey about 4hours. During your safari in Lake Mburo national park you will take on Game drive, boat safari, visit local community to savor some cultural delights of the Ankole people. (Optional: You can decide to browse the park on biking or horse riding adventure).

Say good-bye to Uganda’s wilderness! With sweet and flashing memories about your Uganda safari experience, depart Mburo very early on a 4-hour journey to Entebbe, arriving in the afternoon hours for your regional flight to Kilimanjaro Airport. En-route you have a short break at the Uganda equator for water tryout and standing on the earth’s northern and southern hemispheres.

Leave Arusha after breakfast, hit the road on a roughly 3hour drive to Ngororngoro Conservation Area. Have a lunch break at the lodge and in the afternoon, you descend to the crater floor for a half day crater adventure. Lots of wildlife will be encountered as you browse around the forest fringed region and open-savanna areas. The 8’288sq.km Ngorongoro Conservation Area is a vast area located in the northern part of Tanzania making up the popular northern tourism circuit. It is a UNSECO world heritage site sheltering the vast Ngorongoro Crater-home to the African Big Five species. Its scenery is something to behold and while at the crater you will enjoy the dramatically carved landscape.

Have another wildlife experience in Ngorongoro then continue to Serengeti national park where you will have another wildlife adventure. The Serengeti covers an area of 14’763sq.km with a UNESCO world heritage status. The park enjoys a rich stretch into Mara making a triangle that is popular for the wildlife migration which is regarded as one of the most important wildlife event. Serengeti national park is popular for the great migration where guests get chance to see hundreds of thousands of wildlife stride the savanna plains and the river. This is usually an annual event occurring in Serengeti between November –July but the popular one being June –October as the wildlife crosses the river. Serengeti national park has a tremendous number of wildlife with close to 2million wildebeests, and other species of predator and prey so be sure you will see the African Big Five.

So during your safari in Serengeti, you will take on a game drive, walking safari and on a pefect timing of your safari you may witness the great wildlife migration. A balloon safari is a perfect way to witness the wildlife spectacle of the Serengeti plains.

Say good-bye to Africa with all smile about your experience! Leave your camp after breakfast and you will take on a detour to the Maasai community where you will be welcomed to a honest smile of the Maasai.
