On this Rwanda Gorilla trekking and Tanzania wildlife safari, you will explore some of East Africa’s premier wildlife destinations. You will track Mountain Gorillas in Rwanda’s Volcanos National Park and in Tanzania, you will visit Arusha, Tarangire and Ngorongoro national parks. Volcanos national park is not only Rwanda’s popular tourist destination but a premier Gorilla trekking destination in Africa.
During your wildlife experience in Tanzania, a country of dramatic wildlife adventures, you will have the opportunity to encounter the African Big Five.
Located close to Arusha city/town, the 140sq.km park is a classic destination for excursions in Tanzania, with a wealth and miscellany of wildlife apart from the Lion cats. Sights of primates like Baboons and Black & White Colobuses, other mammals like Buffaloes, Hippos, Waterbucks, Hyenas and Giraffes, the great count of more than 570 bird species, attractions like Momela lakes, Ngurudoto crater and views of Mount Meru will make your visit in Arusha national park a dreamlike.
Two hours away from Arusha is Tarangire which carries its name from the river that flows through the park’s plains. The 2’850 Km2 national park is known for its density of Elephants which are commonly seen during the months of June to October. Other wildlife like Hartebeests, Wildebeests, Kudus, and occasionally, the Oryx and Gerenuks usually migrate from the dry Maasai plains to the Tarangire waterway and this migration is presents opportune moments to see the predators stalk their prey in the golden savanna plains of Africa.
The highlight of this Rwanda- Tanzania wildlife safari is the Gorilla trekking adventure and wildlife excursion in Ngorongoro Conservation Area, a UNESCO heritage site known for the masterpiece of nature, the Ngorongoro crater.
Package Itinerary
Welcome to the Home of Mountain Gorillas! On the day of arrival at Kigali International airport, you will be warmly received by the company guide/representative, and transfer to your accommodation in Kigali.
Overnight (o/n): The Retreat by Heaven (Luxury)/ Gorilla Golf Hotel (Mid-range) Bed & Breakfast
Today you take on an early morning to afternoon city tour of Kigali. You visit the Genocide memorial centre where you will learn about what unfolded during the 1994 Rwanda’s genocide and visit to the Presidential Palace museum.
Later, have lunch and depart northwest to Volcanos national park at Ruhengeri. Check-in at the accommodation where dinner and overnight will be.

Prepare for today’s adventure, have an early breakfast, and assemble at the park reception area by 8am for briefing on the tracking etiquette. Afterwards set into the forest for the adventure of Gorilla trekking in Rwanda’s Volcanos national park which is part of the Virunga ranges. The activity may last just a few hours to 5/6hours depending on where the gorillas nested and many other factors like the pace of the trekkers.
Tracking these prestigious Great Apes- the Gorillas is extremely adventurous and somewhat demanding, as a result, anyone planning to trek needs to be reasonably fit. Trekking involves moving past steep and slippery terrain and once you encounter the Gorillas, you spend an hour in their presence watching them. Later, retreat to the reception area for your tracking certificates.

Bid farewell to the Land of a thousand hills! Have breakfast at the lodge then prepare to leave for Kigali international airport in time for your scheduled flight to Kilimanjaro airport. On arrival at the airport JRO, you will be received by our representative, meet and greet then transfer to Arusha where you will have dinner and overnight.

Go to Arusha national park after breakfast, you will explore some of the park’s famous areas like the Serengeti Ndogo on a walking safari and here you will see lots of wildlife. A safari game drive within the park is one perfect way how you will discover its treasures. Discover some of the craters and other lakes like the Momella and here you encounter lots of bird species like the Lesser and Greater Flamingos. Arusha national park presents stunning backdrop of the Kilimanjaro and Meru Mountains.

Leave Arusha national park and transfer southwest of Arusha on a scenic drive to Tarangire national park. Tarangire is one of the northern circuit’s tourism assets and it’s a stronghold for Elephants. It’s a great site for some rare wildlife like Oryx and Gerenuk. Some good numbers of wildlife roam the park during the dry-spell such as the Wildebeests and these attract a stalk of predators like Leopards, Cheetahs and others.
You will explore the untold wealth of the park on safari game drives, walking safari and the area around river Tarangire hosts a varied number of wildlife. The plains of the park are highlighted by Baobab trees and termite mounds dotted within the golden-yellow savannas and a remarkable scene of rising and falling landscape

Bid farewell to Tarangire, head to Ngorongoro Conservation area. Here you will spend 2 days of wildlife experience. Ngorongoro is one of the wonders of Africa and it’s a UNESCO world heritage site. It hosts the African Big Five which includes the Rhinos, Buffalos, Lions and the Elephants. Species of predator like Jackals, Hyenas, Wild dogs and species of prey like Zebras, Gazelles, and Reedbucks among others are well represented.
During your stay in Ngorongoro, you will visit/descend to the crater floor which offers a roller-coaster scenery. You will enjoy a picnic lunch and this will remind you the traditional days of an African safari.

Prepare for departure from Ngorongoro back to Arusha. Its time to say good-bye to Africa, you will travel back to Arusha on to Kilimanjaro for your flight back home. Drop off is at the Airport in time for your flight or at the hotel.
